Elizabeth Jane Price (nee Baskerville)

Elizabeth Jane Price (nee Baskerville)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, who left peacefully on July 26th in Victoria B.C. surrounded by family. Elizabeth, known to many as Betty, was born April 15, 1934 in Toronto, Ontario and lived much of her childhood in Parry Sound, Ont. She worked many years in banking and loved travelling by train. When relocating to Victoria by train in the early 1950′s, she met the love of her life; Hugh John Price (her “SP”) (deceased Nov 2007). They were married in 1954 and lived a full and exciting life mostly in Victoria. Predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Jane Baskerville and her only brother, Gordon (Doris) Baskerville of Peterborough; she is survived by her loving daughters, Jane (Eric) Kahler of Ottawa and Bonnie (Tony) Faganello of Victoria; granddaughter, Erin Kahler of Calgary; grandson, Bret Kahler of Trenton; granddaughter, Sonya Faganello of Victoria and great granddaughter, Jaelyn Stromberg of Colorado Springs. She will be greatly missed by many other relatives and friends. Betty was a long time resident of Esquimalt and cherished her time with family and friends all of whom she held so dear to her heart. To those who knew her, that kind heart reached far. She enjoyed her music, love of finding the store that sold those winning lottery tickets, the best ice cream spots and adored the famous scenery and parks that Victoria offers. She was a steadfast family pillar and a very proud military wife to Hugh. We love you Mom and thank-you so much for all you did for us! As a Grandma you were the absolute best and were never without special treats. Many thanks to all her fellow residents and staff at Grafton Lodge. During her short illness she spoke of you often and we know she truly missed you all. A special thanks to those who provided such tender loving care to her at Victoria General Hospital in the final days of her life.

Service to be held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Thursday, July 30th at 10:00 a.m. Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Grafton Lodge, 506 Grafton St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

  5. Royce G. Tennant says:

Dear Jane and Bonnie, Please accept my sincere sympathy at the loss of your mother.
Betty and I were teen-age friends many years ago in Parry Sound, and I remember her with affection. We had so many good times, skating, picnics, dances, and movies. I am so happy to hear that she had a loving family and good life, as I had been given the wrong information that that she had died of cancer in her early twenties. If you would like to call me about your mother’s early life in Parry Sound, I would be happy to hear from you.
    Sincerely, Royce Tennant.
