Dorothy Enid Kennedy passed away on October 29, 2014 at the age of 98. Dorothy was born in Bristol, England and moved to Canada with her family at age five, settling in Teulon, Manitoba.  With her father’s early passing, Dorothy, along with sisters Evelyn, Mary and Audrey and brothers Cecil, Raymond and Allan, left school early to help their mother support the family.  All her siblings predeceased her.

Dorothy worked as a domestic for families in the Teulon area and Winnipeg and moved to Edmonton when she married Ed 73 years ago. They spent the next 50 years there before joining their son Brian and his wife Jo on the Island.  Dorothy was a homemaker who excelled in the kitchen, from which family and friends greatly benefitted.  In younger years, Dorothy was active in the church, home and school and community activities.  Dorothy and Ed have five grandchildren:  Brian’s sons Todd (Pamela), Blair (April) and Garth (Carissa); and Jo’s daughters Ava (Paul) and Gwen; and great grandchildren.

Special thanks to the Saanich Peninsula medical staff, VIHA Home Health Service Professionals, Beacon Community Services Home Support workers, and the caring staff at Mt. Tolmie Hospital for enhancing Dorothy’s last years and months.

A family graveside service is planned.
