It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Donald Fouracre on December 19th after a brief illness.  He was loved and adored and will be greatly missed by his wife Linnea, of more than 53 years, his daughters Karen, Susan (Stephen), Catherine (Anatolijus), his 4 grandchildren Rhys, Sam, Grace and Tessa.  His siblings Bett (Harry), Lois (Ken), Brian (Denise), sister- in-law Glenda Miller, brother-in-law Jim Miller (Kate), many cousins and a multitude of friends.
Don was born in Victoria Sept 24, 1937 to Jack and Madge Fouracre.  He graduated from Oak Bay High school and went on to have a long and successful career at London Life Insurance Company.  He was involved in Cadboro Bay United church and served on the board of Gorge View Housing Society.  He loved beach combing, collecting wood, growing and sharing garden produce, his daily walks and most importantly time with family.  We were so fortunate to have many family holidays in Mexico and Hawaii.  The summer centered around holiday times at Cowichan and Shuswap Lake where many cherished family memories were made.  His children and grandchildren were the joy of his life, his love for them unbounded. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality, hearty laugh, big heart and generosity.
A memorial service will be held Monday December 23rd at 1:00pm at First Metropolitan Church at 932 Balmoral Rd. Reception to follow in the Hall. If desired, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Don’s name to the Cardiac Care Unit at Jubilee Hospital.  Our sincere thanks to all the staff at the CCU who provided such wonderful support.  Additional parking available at Johnson & Vancouver Street (955 Johnson).

Linnea and family – deepest condolences for the loss of such a vibrant, energetic and positive person. I came to know Don through the Merry Mates couples group at Metropolitan United and grew that friendship through the years. He welcomed me in to Cadboro Bay UC years later. What a treasure, what a loss to you, your family, and our community. We are visiting family in Prince George so will not be able to be part of you celebration of life.

Dear Linnea, Karen, Susan and Catherine (and your families). I was deeply saddened when I learned of Don’s death. Why only a few days ago we spoke at the Youth Concert at CBUC. How quickly life moves on, and our health is always tenuous. I will miss bumping into him and discussing important matters. He was a remarkable man.
He is at peace, and I hope you too will locate peace and comfort in the days ahead. Hopefully I will see you at 1st UC Monday for his memorial and celebration of life.
