It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Bernard Victor Potentier.    Bernie is survived by his wife Marjorie, his brother Phillip, children, Douglas (Darlene), Christine (Jim) Edwards, Brad (Nancy), Geoffrey (Marilyn), Brian (Marian) and his grandchildren, Tracey, Michelle, Spencer, Nicholas, Tina, Alex, Nicole, Jessica, Brock, Brianne, Lauren and great grandchildren, Zachary, Taylor, Trinity, Jayden, Rilee and Finn.

Born in Revelstoke, BC and raised in Victoria, Bernie served on the Victoria Police Department, traffic division before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1952 with postings in Ontario, France and England.  After leaving the Air Force Bernie apprenticed and became a glazier.  He owned and operated Able Glass Company in Richmond, B.C. before relocating his business to Colwood in 1975.

Retirement was boating, cruising and winters with the motorhome in Mesa, Arizona.  His love of music and the piano was his life long passion.  In his later years, “Bernie’s Jazz Trio” played in most of Victoria’s assisted living establishments.

A memorial tea for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 14th at 3:00 pm at the Uplands Golf Course, Victoria, B.C.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Victoria Hospitals Foundation in memory of Bernie. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
