On Monday, June 16th, 2014 Be Van Nguyen was suddenly taken from this world with his loving family by his side.

Be was born on April 15th, 1943, in Rach Gia, Vietnam and immigrated to Canada with his then pregnant wife and two sons shortly after the Vietnam War to build a better life for his family.

Upon arriving in Canada he quickly moved his family west, from Montreal to Winnipeg, and from Winnipeg to Victoria, where the family has called home since 1980.  Be spent the next 3 decades working multiple jobs and countless hours to ensure his family was well provided for. Together with his wife and the help of their 4 sons they opened 2 successful restaurants; Saigon Night and Kim’s Vietnamese Restaurant.

Be recently retired at the age of 70 and enjoyed spending his free time gardening, traveling back to Vietnam, and spending time with his family, especially with all of his grandchildren. One day prior to his passing he had an opportunity to celebrate Father’s Day with his family. There was so much love in the house that it could have filled his heart for a million life times. There will never be another man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, or friend as amazing as him.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years; Kim, and his four sons; Kiet (Tracy), Tuan (Tram), Hung (Charlene), and John (Tam) and his 9 grandchildren; Olivia, Madison, Emma, Tevin, Tori, TJ, Elijah, Asher, and Thai, as well as his brother, Hue and 2 sisters Thi Be and Thi De.

The Service will be held on Monday, June 23rd at 5:30PM the McCall’s Chapel and Reception Centre, located at 1400 Vancouver Street, Victoria, BC (Johnson & Vancouver Streets) followed by a reception. Thank you to all the family and friends for the love and support. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Your father was such a beautiful soul. His smile and laugh always made my heart melt. He created an amazing family bringing all of you boys into this world with your wonderful mother. I feel blessed to have known him. I’m sad for all of you in the time, so sudden and taken too soon. May he rest in peace.

    Much love,
    Jasmine

    To the Nguyen family:
My heart goes out for you as you mourn the loss of a wonderful man. I am so happy to hear that you had a great Father’s Day with him and that his grand kids spent time getting to know what a lovely person he was.
You make him proud by honouring his love for family, and by showing that love every day. He is still with you in your memories and in your heart, smiling down from heaven.
I pray that you find comfort in sharing his life and love with others, and that his soul is at peace.
    Much love,
    Jennifer Y.
