August 26, 1964 – April 19, 2015

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race; I have kept my faith”.  Indeed you have, with your sweet and stubborn spirit, for far longer than anyone could have predicted.  You kept us guessing, you kept us laughing, you made us love ABBA all over again.  Now we give you back to both your Fathers, in whose loving arms you have always resided.  “The tide went out easily, and in the dark before dawn… she quietly drew her last… the spring sunshine streamed in like a benediction over the placid face upon the pillow, a face so full of painless peace that those who loved it best smiled through their tears, and thanked God that (Barbie) was well at last.”

There will be a celebration of Barb’s life on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 2:30pm, at McCall Bros., 1400 Vancouver Street at Johnson.

Please join us as we remember our Dancing Queen!  Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Dear Bernie, I am so sorry to hear of your sister’s passing. I was searching for a way to contact you and found this, months too late. I remember Barbie and her wonderful spirit. May she dance forever. Love Kris.

favourite memory – Barbara as a bridesmaid when Casey and Rob got married. Driving from the service for the photos, honking the horns. She couldn’t stop laughing – this row of cars all decked up honking away and Barb just thought this was the best thing in the world. She got us all laughing too – it was wonderful. We must have been a site driving around in a decorated 1967 Valiant honking away with 4 women in the car laughing our heads off. Her joy was infectious and she was immensely proud to be part of the wedding party.

Barbie sent us a long farewell. We will have warm memories of our brief times together, her sleep overs, and swim excursions. Such a plucky girl – to march out on the diving board and fling herself, head first, into the pool water below. Never a moments hesitation then or in her total life. We feel honoured to have had her as a friend, especially Sarah, close in age in those early days. Our sorrow at Barbie’s passing is transcended by our admiration for her and her loving family. Warm thoughts from us all.

Thank you for sharing the beautiful story of your amazing, precious daughter.

My daughter, Bonnie, was born on the 28th day of August, 1964. She blessed me for less than 3 years and I miss her still. She had a very rare condition called, Krabbe Leukodystrophy.

Your memories will continue to warm your heart, always.

Thank you again for sharing this touching tribute to your “Barbie”
I share with you in your loss.
    Penny
