May 11, 1962 – February 9, 2014

With broken hearts we announce the passing of Barry.  He was deeply loved by family, many friends and business associates.  As a graduate of St. Michael’s University School and BCIT, he developed careers in Culinary Arts, real estate and founded Inside Computer Systems as a computer specialist and IT technician serving locally and throughout Vancouver Island.  He was an avid golfer, sports fan and loved boating our waters.  Barry is survived by his mother, Helen Buck; birth father, Alexander Clark and father, William Vieser; sister, Linley Vieser; nephews, Kyle and Kurt and niece, Laura Vieser.

On Saturday, February 22, there will be a Celebration of Life at the Fireside Grill between 2 and 4 p.m.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the S.P.C.A. remembering  his “Howie”.  Condolences may be offered to the family below.

We like others, just shocked by this sad news. We are very senior seniors now, but Barry came into our lives in the 1990’s.
We were thinking of trying out this computer oddity, and Herb Delory who lived in Mill Bay at the time, suggest we give this young fellow Barry a call, because he had set up a very intricate system for him, and Herb was just SO impressed with his capabilities.
Thus started a long wonderful friend ship. For over 20 years Barry had helped us through the intricacies of emails and Word and I all that puter stuff and I think back over that time,at the really silly questions I always had for him, but ever so patiently, he walked me through things. He taught me everything.
If he couldn’t come out to the house, he tried to walk me through an issue by phone. We often laughed about this. But he was so pleased so see these two oldies finally grasp the new age of communication.
I wonder how many times he has upgraded for us, or put in new systems. No one else has ever worked on these computers. They are Barry’s.
He had everything fine tuned for us.
We loved his visits. We always had so much to discuss from cooking to sports to just ‘chewing the fat”. Bing always had a bottle of wine for him. We loved him as our own.
He set us up when we moved from the big house to the condo. He really liked our new place and told us of his Mom coming back to the Island and her place in Sidney.
He was coming out to our place, but called to say he was going to have dinner with his mom. I am so glad he did that Mom.
He came here the next day instead .Performed his magic on our computers. We had a great visit once again, and for some reason I walked to the car with him and we sort of lingered in conversation before saying good bye.
I am happy I did that. Farewll again, my special long time friend.
We will miss you for many things but most of all, because you were Barry.

I am sorry I could not come to the Celebration of his Life today, but at 80, I hesitate to drive in some of Victoria’s weather.

May God bless you Mom, and all your family.
He was a great kid, really . I am proud to be a friend. We will truly miss him.

    Blessings
    Lorraine and Bing Bates
    and Alexa.

Alexa is our grandaughter who has lived with us for years. She had such faith in Barry and his capabilities. “Can you please call Barry Gramma, the computer is really slow” – from middle school to UVic. he was her Champion. She took the news very sadly.
She also lost a buddy and friend.

Sorry for your loss of your son, brother, and uncle. It’s been many years since I last saw him , but have some great memories of him letting his younger sister Linley and her friend go to his friends’ parties, weekend visits in Vancouver and skiing up at Mt Washington with the family. He was a great guy.

Barry was such a likeable fellow. He made friends quickly. You couldn’t help but like him. He was generous to a fault, always shared anything that he had and could never turn his back on someone who needed a hand. I have so many good memories of spending time with Barry, camping, going to the lake in the summer, playing cards, watching shooting stars from his deck, having fun on his boat, giggling like fools on his couch and of course, cooking, our mutual joy. I like high heat and lots of stirring, Barry preferred low and slow and leave it alone….needless to say, many good natured discussions ensued. To anyone reading this, if you have someone in your life that you love and appreciate – tell them. To his family, you cannot rationalize such a sad and unexpected event…all you can do is hold tight to the wonderful memories and each other at such a difficult time, finding solace in the love of family, friends and even strangers, who do care and can hold you up. My deepest sympathy. To Barry, I love you, I miss you and I’ll never forget you. A hui hou. Friends forever. Kathy
