It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather at home on December 24, 2013 at the age of 91. Arthur was predeceased by his loving wife, Veronica and brother, Norman. He is survived by his son, Ron (Marina Scott); daughters, Susan (Michel Cote), Deborah (Dave Sikorski) and Andrea (Ken Cousens); grandsons, Alastair and David; granddaughters, Breanna (Matt Kubin) and Tianna; great-grandson, Colter, as well as family in Canada and England. Born in Calgary, Alberta on March 4, 1922, Arthur attended Western Canada High School and apprenticed as a machinist and tool and die-maker for the Canadian Pacific Railway at the Ogden Shops. He proudly served his country during World War II with the Corps of Royal Canadian Railway Engineers in Belgium and Holland. It was while serving overseas that he met and married Vera in England. They were married for 55 years until her passing in 2000. After a long and rewarding career working for the CPR, the University of Calgary and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, Art and Vera retired to Victoria, BC from Calgary.  Art would say he preferred not to shovel any more winter snow. Art enjoyed his independence which was made evident by his pleasure when recently renewing his driver’s license. He could sit and recall wide variety of incidents with remarkable accuracy and took pleasure in telling his stories even if he repeated himself now and again. He took particular pleasure in walking Morgan (but who was walking who?) as well as meeting with his friends whenever he could.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to Art’s close friends, Cathy Fraser, John Bernard, and Peter De Wolf.

A Visitation and Memorial Reception will be held in Art’s honour at McCall’s Downtown,  Johnson & Vancouver Streets on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 2:30 pm. If so desired, memorial tributes may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in tribute to Vera and Art.  Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Our sincere sympathies to the entire Teale family.

We remember when Arthur and Veronica visited us in Ottawa for Michel’s and Susan’s wedding. We regarded them as a caring and loving couple.

Michel and Susan use to call Arthur every Sunday evening to inquire about his well-being.

    He will certainly be missed.

Sincere sympathy to Arthur’s family. Thoughts and prayers to you all.

Missing Arthur very much. In fact, Morgan spends most of the day sitting by his leash at the front door waiting for Arthur to come and take him to meet his doggy pals and Arthur’s people pals at the nearby park.

Hard to find the words. Cathy
