Archibald B. Hall

Archibald B. Hall

1922 – 2009

With great sadness we announce that Archie left us on December 23rd after being admitted to Royal Jubilee Hospital for kidney disease. Born July 12, 1922 in Calgary to Scottish immigrants, Archie spent most of his childhood in Burnaby where one of his favourite pastimes was fishing. He served with Canadian forces during World War II, and attended the University of BC before receiving his Chartered Accountant designation. He worked for many years at Burrard Shipyard (Vancouver) and then Yarrows Shipyard (Victoria) until his retirement in 1987. Archie was active in several local charities and clubs, including Kiwanis Club of Victoria (Past President), Saanich Probus Club (Founding Member), Community Chest (Audit Committee), 007 Management (formerly 57) Club, and Uplands Golf Club. Happiest when tending his garden and sharing the produce, walking, and visiting family, friends and neighbours, Archie will be remembered for his cheerful nature, quiet sense of humour, integrity, and meticulous attention to detail. Devoted husband, supportive father and proud grandfather, Archie will be greatly missed by Lois, his wife of 57 years; son John (Sara), their children Baxter, Cora and Ian; son James (Carol), their children Andrew and David; cousin Fay Heard; a nephew and several nieces.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donating to the United Ostomy Association Victoria BC Chapter, at PO Box 43023 Victoria North, Victoria BC, V8X 3G0.

  1. Rosie Bowman says:

    Lois, Jamie, John and family,
You know how much Bruce and I cared for you and how our heart aches for you – it was a privilege to be a part of your family for as long as we were. Our friendship shall only continue in the future and I feel proud and honored to have been included in the trying times of the past few weeks. Something we can always share together. Much love from us both, Bruce and Rosie Bowman

  2. susan Gains says:

I wish to offer my most sincere condolences to Mrs Hall, John, Jamie and their families.
Growing up on Chelsea Place it was my privilege to know Mr Hall, as a child knows their neighbours. He was always a pleasure to say Hello to, he never minded when we used the driveway as our wild wagon raceway or tossed balls over the house in another game.
My thoughts are with you … Susan Gains (Higgin)
