Born on June 27, 1920 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Royal Jubilee Hospital on August 28, 2011. Predeceased by her husband, Clarence on March 1, 2007. Lovingly remembered by her sister, Peg; sons, Larry and Brent (Terry); grandchildren, James (Tanja), Kimberly (Liam); great-grandchildren, Clara and Hannah, Brantley, Braxton and Braidon. Special thanks to the staff at Parkwood Place and the nursing staff at the Oncology Department 8 South, Royal Jubilee Hospital, for their exceptional care.

With great sadness we announce the passing of a very special woman. Predeceased by her husband, Ron; Elsie will be missed and remembered by sons, Walter (Mary), Jamie (Annette); daughter, Sylvia (Jaymie); grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.
Elsie loved to sing, dance and perform – a true entertainer. She was also a people-person and over her lifetime developed a large circle of loyal friends. She had a genuine concern for the welfare of others; volunteering for various charities and working with special needs adults. Elsie will be remembered and missed for her sense of humor and enthusiasm for life.

After a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease, Jean passed away peacefully in Victoria, BC. He was born in Ottawa and graduated with a degree in chemical engineering at the University of Ottawa. Jean held various management positions over his 38 year career within the Canadian pharmaceutical industry. He was an avid nature enthusiast spending countless hours sharing his love and passion for the outdoors with his family and friends. Jean is survived by his wife, Sharon (married for 46 years) and their three sons: Paul (Leslie), Maurice (Doris), Charles (Agnès), and six grandchildren. His funeral was held earlier this week at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. “Eddie”, as he was affectionately known by his friends, died peacefully at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, B.C. on August 25, 2011.
Eddie was born on August 11, 1927 in Glashütte, Upper Silesia, Germany, the youngest of seven siblings (Gerhard, Karl, Ilse, Hilde, Alfred, Herbert). Ed is predeceased by his wife of thirty-two years, Gertrude, in 1988 and is survived by his daughter Ruth, son-in-law Abby,cherished grandchildren Alycia, Anna and Aaron, his dear partner Lotti, and many other close relatives and friends.
Eddie apprenticed as a welder at Hennigsdorf Berlin, Germany during the war years, and by the time he applied to come to Canada in 1951, he was already a journeyman. Holding A, B, and C Welding tickets, his prolific skills in Oxy-Acetylene and Arc-Atom welding took him to the Alberta pipelines and numerous B.C. projects,including the Ocean Falls Pulp Mill, the Kemano Power Station, and to Malaspina College in Nanaimo as its first welding instructor. Throughout his professional career, Eddie was a member of the Boiler Makers Union of Victoria, Local 191.
One of Eddie’s many trade stops was in Victoria, where he met and fell in love with Gertrude “Gertie” Glashuettner of Mödling, Austria. He married Gertie in 1955, and they had a daughter Ruth soon after. The family eventually settled in Victoria, where Eddie found work with Nicholson-Murdie Machines, Limited for over thirty years until he retired in 1989. An avid soccer fan, Eddie played semiprofessional soccer in Germany, and was coach of the Victoria Kickers in the late 1960’s and mid 1970’s. As a founding member of the Victoria Edelweiss Club in 1970, many weekends were spent both volunteering his labour skills, and sharing laughter over a beer with good friends. The last 23 years of his life were spent with his devoted partner Lotti, travelling extensively, sharing her great cooking, and visiting friends.
A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held on Friday Sept. 2, 2011 at Lambrick Park Church, 1780 Feltham Road, Victoria B.C. at 1 pm. Interment procession will follow after the service to Royal Oak Cemetery, and reception for family and guests afterwards.

Patrick John Melvin Causgrove-Carter passed away on August 24, 2011 in Victoria, BC. Patrick was born July 30, 1955 in Windsor, Ontario. Patrick is survived by his wife of 19 years, Diana Carney; his children Christopher Carter, Lexi Carter and her fiance Brent Herron.
Patrick is the beloved son of Julie Frances Causgrove Carter and her beloved husband Reginald (Deceased 1994). Beloved brother of Lynne and Bill Bolton (Both deceased 1994), Reginald and Sandy Carter (Sandy deceased 2011) of Lansing, Michigan, Gary and Corry Carter of Georgetown, Robert and Maureen Carter of La Salle, Timothy and Eva Carter of Markham, Mary Elizabeth Carter (Deceased 1994) and her husband Michael McNamara of Windsor, and Julie Ann Ellis Carter and her husband Paul Ellis of Windsor.
Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, he attended Massey High School. He met and married Janice Ouelette Carter (Deceased 2010) and had their two beautiful children Christopher and Lexi. They lived in Windsor, London, and Toronto.
In 1990, Patrick went to Houston, Texas for a two week vacation and met Diana. Their first date was August 24, 1990. They married July 1992. After living in Houston, Texas for 18 years, Pat returned to Canada and was experiencing significant personal and professional success when fate cut short his efforts.
Anyone who knew Patrick knew he loved to have fun and was the life of the party. His main passions were working, baseball, golf, and the Rolling Stones.
Patrick loved to include anybody in his life and encouraged them to join in in sharing his passions. His goal every day was to help someone even in the smallest way whether it was a smile and a hello to a total stranger to helping someone with a project. He had a special knack for turning the negative into a positive and he approached all situations with this attitude.
He will be greatly missed by friends and family. Private services will be held in Windsor, Ontario.

Jean passed away Sunday August 21, 2011 at Mount Edward Court, Victoria, BC. She was born in Prince Rupert, BC October 10, 1917 and is survived by Glen, her loving husband of 65 years. Predeceased by her only son Roger in 2005. Jean was a graduate of St. Joseph’s School of Nursing Class of 1941. She was so loved and will be so missed by her family and by the many dear and special friends she lovingly ‘gathered’ along her way.

Passed away in Victoria on August 19, 2011. She was born in Denzil, Saskatchewan on December 17, 1917. Johanna is survived by her loving husband, of 68 years, Edward; daughters, Eileen (Earl Wicks), Joanne (Joe Romano); sons, Michael and Robert and many special grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Johanna enjoyed curling, fishing and dancing in her younger life. She and Ed liked to travel in their retirement years. She always had a special place in her heart for Bowser, BC.

Passed away in Victoria, BC on August 21, 2011. He was born in Podgajci, Croatia on September 24, 1950. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Maria; sons, Zeljko (Anita) and Ive; grandchildren, Ema and Marko and many extended family and friends in Canada and Croatia. Ivica was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who loved and cherished his family more than anything. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff for their kind and loving care.
