Passed away quietly on April 26, 2010 at the age of 69. Survived by his daughter Dioni; son Bradley; grandson Shawn; sisters Florence, Lillian and Cynthia; brothers Wayne and Grant. He was the most loving, caring kindest father and had the biggest heart to all. His passion was his job as a Backhoe Operator and Samson his dog was his “King of Kings & Lord of Lords”. George spent most nights gardening, was an avid guitar player, loved his “prime rib, Ukranian sausage & eggs” and enjoyed fresh baked bread with his son before bed. All of his passions are finished with his favourite saying “unbelievable”. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the SPCA.
Visitation to be held on Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at McCall Bros. Funeral Home, 1400 Vancouver at Johnson Street. A Celebration of Life to be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 3:00pm at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel.

Shirley passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital on April 25, 2010. Shirley was born in Ladysmith, B.C. on March 15,1924. She was an Associate Member of the former Ex Service Women, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 182 and was a Member of the Prince Edward Branch, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 091. Shirley was also a member of the Fairfield Activity Centre. She was a dependable, hard working volunteer and was respected and well liked by everyone. Shirley enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas to play Bingo. She will be missed by her friends and will be remembered as a lady who lived life her way.
There will be a tea to celebrate Shirley’s life on Friday, May 14th at 2:00 pm at the Prince Edward Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, 761 Station Road, Langford. Tributes, if desired, may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be offered at www.mccallbros.com.

Nancy passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the age of 75 years. Born in Trochu, Alberta on October 15, 1934. Lovingly remembered by her family, son, Jim; daughter, Sheila; son-in-law, Monty; grandson, Jordan; granddaughter, Jessica; dearest family friend, Bev and many loving relatives and close friends. Predeceased by her eldest son, Bruce Cuthbert on January 20, 2010. Nancy grew up in a very large family in Alberta, then moved to Victoria and joined the Navy in her early twenties. She married in 1957 and raised three children while working for the provincial government. Nancy belonged to many groups and social organizations where she met a lot of her friends who became very dear to her. A special thanks to Dr. Neil Crofton and Dr. John Antonsen and Nancy’s dear nurses at the RJH renal unit and nurses from Royal 1 RJH and the self care dialysis unit. Also Jim and Sheila would like to thank friends and family for all the support you have given.
A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be held in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Peacefully on April 25, 2010 in Victoria, at the age of 97 years. Predeceased by her husband, J.A.M. Beere in 1986, she is survived by her son, Daryl (Jo-Anne); her daughter, Myrne Gray; five grandsons, Craig, Sandy, Mark, Daryl and Ryan; five great-grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Thomas, Lachlan and Alex (Aj); her brother in law, Paul (Muriel); neices, nephews and their families. Mom was an active member of First United Church and in the Community. She had a wonderful sense of humour, her loving family and many friends will miss her greatly. Born August 7, 1924 in Bon Accord, Alberta, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2010. Predeceased by her loving husband, Gilbert in 1986; her parents, Worthy and Marjorie Putnam; brothers, Gordon and Bert; sisters, Grace, Ella and Enid. She is survived by her sister, Valerie. Also left to mourn her passing are, daughter, Joan (John); sons, Mark (Jeanette), Barry (Doreen); grandchildren, Julie, Cherie (Kevin), John, Michael and Christopher (Kirsten); and great-grandchildren, Marissa and Spencer. Special thanks to the staff at Glengarry Hospital for making her final days comfortable.

Alex passed away on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. Born on February 14, 1926 in Saskatchewan, he served with the Canadian Army overseas in World War II, most notably in “sunny Italy”. He met his wife to be, Margaret Lucy Keeble in the army and they were married on January 2, 1946. After the war, Mum and Dad moved to Victoria, where they had four children, Lexi (Nils), Joe, Bob (Irene) and Kathy. Dad loved life and always found a way to have fun with people wherever he went. Predeceased by Lucy and most of his own family; he leaves his four children and one brother, Zenon (Diane) in Saskatchewan.
A Celebration of Alex’s life will be held in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 1:00 pm with interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park. The family would like to thank the staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital for their kindness and compassion during a difficult time.

Fantillo, Vincenzo passed away April 24, 2010 with his daughter and son-in-law at his side. Born December 2, 1928 in Casacalenda, Italy. Predeceased by his wife Angelina in 2008; sister Giuseppina; brother Francesco; survived by his daughter Carmen (Gordon Pringle); sister Lina; brother Antonio and many extended family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Rene Weir and Dr. Chris Jones and all the nurses and staff at the Royal Jubilee Renal Unit for all of their kind care and support since 2004. “You were all simply amazing.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Andrews Cathedral Parish, Blanshard and View Streets at 1:00pm, Saturday, May 1, 2010 with entombment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park. Dora Isobel, U.E., born on February l, 1924 in Welland, Ontario, died suddenly on April 22, 2010 in Victoria, BC. Predeceased by parents, Abigail Alma and Arthur Errol Gould; husband, (Ret’d) Capt. George Ronald Parry; brother, Stanley Gould; and first husband, the late Capt. Richard F. Dickie of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment, killed during World War II in Kapelsche Veer, Holland. Mother to sons, Richard Keith Dickie (Maria); Paul George (Darlene); Carl Patrick (Louise) and daughter, Georgia Anne. Grandmother to Parry Lee Dickie, Carmen Lee Parry and Jordan Spencer Parry. Dora had a keen interest in genealogy and was an active member of The United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada and Military Museums of Canada. She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by her family and all those close to her. The family would like to thank Dr. Bryan Murray and the entire staff of Mount Edward’s Court Care Home who treated our mother with kind and compassionate care throughout her illness. Also heartfelt gratitude to Dawn Johnston and Beverly Glen, Dora’s personal care companions.
A Funeral Service will be conducted by The Reverend Canon Andrew E. Gates at St. Paul’s Anglican Church on Esquimalt Road on May 1st at 2:00pm. In Memoriam donations may be made to St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 1379 Esquimalt Road, Victoria, BC V9A 3R4 or The Alzheimer Society. Burial will take place at Fonthill Cemetery in Ontario at a later date. Reception to follow at the Officer’s Mess, Bay St. Armoury. ‘Yes, we’ll gather at the river, the beautiful, the beautiful river; gather with the saints at the river that flows by the throne of God.’
Edith “Edie” May Neilson

Went to be with her Lord on April 21, 2010 at the age of 87 years. Born in Victoria, BC on August 24, 1922. Predeceased by her parents, John and May Neilson, cousin Frances West, and long time friends Allison Colburn and Mary Bool. She is survived by cousins Peggy (Archie) Kay; Ron (Wilma) Neilson; Bill (Ghitti) West; Tom (Yvonne) Dykes; Johnan McGlynn, and their families. She will be lovingly remembered by long time friends Frank and Sandra Colburn, Karen (Scott McAvella) Colburn, friends at Washington Manor and the congregation of Trinity Presbyterian Church. Edie was a devoted member of her Church, and spent much of her time driving elderly church members and friends to appointments and lunches. From early days working at Crystal Photofinish she was an avid fan of photography. She was a lover of animals, with a special place for golden retrievers. Her lemon loaf was a welcome treat at family and church functions.
A private internment ceremony will be held with family.
A celebration of Edie’s life will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church (2964 Tillicum Rd) on Friday, April 30 at 1:00pm with the Reverend R. Cleaver officiating. Reception to take place at the church after the service. Edie gave to many charities, so in lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
