Jordan Patrick George Wilson

October 7, 2009

Jordan Patrick George Wilson (1992 – 2009)

Jordan was a beautiful, strong, young, proud Gitxsan man! He was a commercial gillnet fisherman at heart who considered himself an “artist of the sea”, he spent his last summer fishing with his Dad and providing fish for all of his family. Jordan comes from a long line of commercial fishermen who fished from the Skeena and Fraser Rivers. His favourite hobby was researching boats and sketching them. For the rest of the winter, whenever his family enjoys a nice salmon dinner, we will be thinking about and thanking Jordan!

As a gifted hockey player, he was a leader as an athlete who loved his team mates, his coaches and the ice – NYI’s Rich Pilon shared a story with Jordan on how to make the ice his and he did. He encouraged his team when in a losing situation with a, “come on boys, let’s let her rip” and when they won, he celebrated with an excitement that was felt by team mates, coaches and parents. He truly was a gentleman on and off the ice and was respected by all, even the officials! These traits also carried onto other sports such as floor hockey, lacrosse, pool (billiards), and golf.

As a friend he touched the hearts of so many young people. All of his friends spoke of his beautiful smile and how “nobody was ever lonely around him”. If they were feeling down, Jordan or J-Will was the man to go to. He never judged anybody and found the good in everyone – a characteristic taught to him by his Aboriginal morals and ethics. He loved life, music, he “rolled with the flow”, his community and if he knew you…he loved you!

As a Son, Brother, Uncle and Nephew, Jordan was absolutely golden. He made his parents very proud in all aspects of his short life. Everything he did, he did his best. He respected his Dad and Mom and loved his siblings and spent as much time as he could with his family. He never fought with his siblings and loved them BIG! He had two nephews who he loved so much. He couldn’t wait to see ‘em rip it up on the ice, he couldn’t wait to teach them how to skate and use a lacrosse stick. His parents knew he was going to be someone Great and he was. He will be sadly missed by his family as he leaves a big void in the family circle but they feel so blessed and thankful to have had him for the time they did.

Jordan Patrick George Wilson was born in Richmond BC at the Richmond General Hospital on April 9th, 1992. He suddenly and tragically passed away on October 4th, 2009.
