Born January 3, 1929 in Victoria, BC. Passed away peacefully in her home on September 17, 2009. Predeceased by her husband, Marcel in 2000. Lovingly remembered by her children; Garry (Jan-Marie), Greg and Debra (Ken); grandchildren, Diandra and Talina and very close friend, Bruce.

A Celebration of Life will be held in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 2:30 pm. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Predeceased by his parents, Bak Wah and Dai Kit; his beloved wife, Sue Wah and daughter-in-law, Susan. Survived by his children, Wayne, Ann, Gilbert, Raymond and Philip (Diane); grandchildren, Todd, Sara (Michael), Marie, Keith, Laura, Lindsay, Jeremy and Jocelyn and great-grandchildren, Cole, Oliver and Sam. Dad passed away peacefully after almost 99 years of a remarkable and stellar life. Dad was supported throughout his life by a wonderful caring wife, family, good neighbours and friends and since March 2005, the staff of Victoria Chinatown Care Centre. Supported by his family, Dad operated KC Market in Oak Bay for many years and was known as a friendly, helping merchant to all. Special thanks to Dr. MacPherson and Raymond Yee for their special support of Dad. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Victoria Chinatown Care Centre, First & Second Floor Big Screen TV fund, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC or the BC Cancer Society.

Jozef passed away in Victoria on September 15, 2009. He was born in Lancut, Poland on August 15, 1925. Predeceased by his sons, Jerzy and Zigmunt. Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Michelle; daughter, Alicja Walach (Kris); son, Jan (Blagica); grandchildren, Sandra (Clint), Martin, Patrick, Mathew and Amanda. Jozef was an avid gardener. At 16 years of age, he was put into a concentration camp in Mauthausen, Germany where he was interned for nearly four years. As a result, he placed big emphasis on family meals and didn’t like to waste anything especially food. Jozef was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Prayers will be offered in McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 6:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Blanshard and View Streets, at 12:00 Noon on Friday, September 18, 2009. Marion passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 after a short but valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on March 7, 1934. She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Don; sons, Andrew (Abigail) and Bruce (Carol); adoring granddaughters, Grace and Eve; brother, Frank Cowan in Holland; sister, Mae Stewart in Edinburgh and lifelong friend Shiela Dunlop. She will also be deeply missed by a special group of friends who made Marion their “Scottish Queen”.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Thursday, September 17th at McCall Bros. Funeral Home, Johnson & Vancouver Streets. At Marion’s request, a private family service will take place Friday morning followed by cremation. A Celebration of Marion’s Life will take place at a later date.

Marion’s family want to express their deep gratitude to Dr. David Meir, the staff and volunteers at Victoria Hospice and the Home Care Nursing Staff at Esquimalt/West Shore for their kind, compassionate care of Marion during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canadian Cancer Research or Victoria Hospice Society would be appreciated.

Percy Poulton – VE7AGN
Born April 28, 1920 in Grand Forks, BC. Dad passed away peacefully on September 14, 2009 at Sunrise in Victoria after a long journey with Alzheimers. Predeceased by his wife, Doreen in 2002, survived and missed by his daughters, Ann (Rick) Paisley of New Westminster and Wendy of Victoria. Also sadly missed by Debby, his caring friend and the Sunrise staff. Dad moved to Victoria and graduated from Victoria High School in 1938. He joined the navy as a radio operator. Being out of uniform, wearing roller skates, kept him from going overseas! After marrying Doreen and a stint of Motel (Penticton) and Lodge (Moose Horn Lodge, Burns Lake) ownership, they returned to Victoria where he worked at HMCS Dockyard. In 1959 he finished his B.Ed at UBC. He taught for many years at Colquitz Junior High School. Dad operated a ham radio from the age of 18 (VE7AGN) and roller and ice skated until recently. He was an Honorary Life Member of Victoria Figure Skating Club. Thank you to the 3rd floor staff at Sunrise for your kindness and caring and to Debby for your love and loyalty.

WARR Terry (Theresa) – Terry was born in North Kamloops and passed away quietly and peacefully in her home on September 12, 2009 in her 93rd year, after a very brief illness. She is survived by Jim, her loving husband of 66 years; several nieces and nephews and left to mourn are many loving friends. No service at Terry’s request. A Celebration to honor and remember Terry’s life will be held at a later date for her special friends. She loved her home and her garden and her friends. Pojani-Tuzson – Sara (nee Vajo) died peacefully after a short illness on 5 September 2009 with her dear friends at her bedside at Beckley Farm Lodge in Victoria. Sara was predeceased by her beloved daughter, son and husband.

She is fondly remembered and will be missed by her niece Judit, grand nephews Istvan, Gabor, Tamas, Andras and their families in Budapest, Hungary.

In Victoria, her many friends will remember her by her love of music, traveling, caring wisdom and good humor. Special thanks to the staff at Beckley Farm Lodge for their kind and thoughtful care throughout Sara’s residence there since 1998.

A celebration of Sara’s life will be held on Friday, 18 September at 1:15 p.m. followed by reception, at Beckley Farm Lodge, 530 Simcoe Street.
A memorial Mass for Sara will be celebrated on Tuesday, 22 September at 12:00 noon at Saint Andrews Cathedral at 740 View Street.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Beckley Farm Lodge Auxiliary, 920 Simcoe Street, Victoria BC.
Sara’s remains will be interred at the Royal Oak Cemetery.

Mom passed away peacefully just before dawn on September 8, 2009. She was born in Toronto, Ontario on April 5, 1924. Predeceased by her husband, Bob in 1992, she is survived by her children, Lawrie (Donna), Brian, David, Gary, Dianne (Ken) and Karen (Todd); nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A special thanks to the dedicated staff at Mount Tolmie Hospital for their loving and devoted care of Mom over the past four years.

A Memorial Service will be held in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson &Vancouver Streets, at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 18, 2009 with a reception to follow in McCall’s Family Centre. Passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital on September 10, 2009 with family by his side. Predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret in 2007. He leaves behind his son, Bill (Pat); grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike), Heather (Peter), Stephen (Nancy); great-grandchildren, Kurtis, Chelsea, Devon, Kayleigh, Scott, Courtney and Olivia as well as many relatives and friends. John was born in Duncan on April 4, 1916 and spent most of his life on Vancouver Island. He loved the sea and was a passionate historian. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed the company of his friends.

Fought a courageous battle before passing away peacefully on September 9, 2009 with her devoted husband and children by her side.
Maria was predeceased by her son Anibal, daughter Natalia; sisters
Irene, Gloria and Hilda. Survived by her husband of 56 years, Gervasio; son, Luis (Filomena) and their children Serena and Adrian; daughter, Helena (Blair) Watling and their sons Nicholas and Spencer; son, Bob (Caroline) and their daughters, Lauren, Eden and Ellie; sister, Noemia (Edward) Ribeiro and their children. Maria was born in San Miguel, Acores on June 24, 1928 and immigrated to Victoria in 1969 where she devoted her time to her community, her religion and her family. We will miss her patience, humour, wise words and unrelenting love.

Prayers to be held 6pm, Sunday, September 13th at Our Lady of Fatima
Church, 4635 Elk Lake Drive. Funeral at 11am, Monday, September 14th at Our Lady of Fatima with a burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or Mount St. Mary Hospital where she spent her last three years being cared for by wonderful staff.
