It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tara Judy Kimber on February 17, 2008 while traveling in Thailand.
Predeceased by her devoted father, Guy Kimber, Tara will always be lovingly remembered by her mother, Erika Kimber and brother, Michael, along with grandparents, Joseph and Ida Dobronay; uncles, Robert, Paul, Mike, Owen, Art and Glenn; aunts, Judy, Mona, Linda, Barb and Clara; as well as numerous cousins and many dear friends.
Tara was born November 25, 1987 in Victoria, BC where she grew up and lived all of her life. Tara attended Rogers Elementary, and Reynolds Secondary School where she graduated. Tara went on to work at John Alfred Manor which suited her loving, caring attitude as well as her passion for helping others.
A memorial service will be held at NORTH DOUGLAS PENTECOSTAL CHURCH, 675 Jolly Pl., on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 3:30 pm. A gathering will follow.
Tara you will always be remembered by all who knew you. Your smile, presence, laughter and sensitivity will not be forgotten. You were a great daughter, sister, granddaughter, friend, niece and co-worker.
Rest in Peace our beautiful girl. You were taken from us far too soon.
A memorial fund has been set-up to assist the family with expenses.

Eleanor (“Bunny” or “Nellie”) Palmer (nee Burrows) passed away peacefully on Sunday February 24, 2008 from heart and respiratory complications. Born on September 29, 1910 in Birmingham, England to Nellie and Fred Burrows. She leaves her husband, Carl and daughter, Margaret (Mick) as well as her brother, Percy (Ruth) in Norfolk. She was predeceased by her brother Bill. She was a very intelligent but modest lady, a devoted wife and mother, a kind and steadfast friend with an impish sense of humour. A life long learner who had done so well in school that she was able to graduate early, with distinction in Latin and French, which lead to her love of languages. She was proficient in French, German and Spanish and studied Russian for 2 years. She had been an avid bicycler and at the age of 96 wrote a bike ride article that was published in a UK newspaper. She worked at various bookkeeping and secretarial jobs including Thomas Cook and Sons and after she and Carl moved to Canada in 1948, worked as a school secretary for 9 years at North Ward and Burnside schools. While in Ottawa and upon returning to Victoria in 1978, she continued her hobbies of gardening, reading, letter writing to friends (and to the occasional politician when required!), doing crosswords (in ink) and playing the piano. A most sincere appreciation to Dr. Blair, Angela Hope, R.N., Paquerette, Sharon, Lorna, Kathy and Linda and to the kind Glenwarren staff. A reception will be held at the Victoria Golf Club on Beach Drive on Sunday March 9, 2008 at 12:30 pm. If inclined, donations could be sent to the Victoria Hospitals Foundation.

Brenda left us suddenly on February 19, 2008. She is predeceased by her father, Malcolm. Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Lorne and their three sons, Ryan, Colin and Scott; her mother, Doreen; brothers, Terry and Ken and their families.

Grace Loraas (Angus) was born on February 26,1915 in Ingomar, Nova Scotia, the last member of a family of seven. Grace passed away on February 19, 2008 surrounded by family love one week before her 93rd birthday. Predeceased by her husband Bill in 1996. She was very proud of her position as Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star in Wilkie, Sask. and taught school for many years in rural Sask., Edmonton and Victoria. She and her husband Bill enjoyed many years participating in a wide variety of activities at the Juan de Fuca Seniors’ Center. She will.be missed greatly by her son Don(Joan) Loraas, daughters Judy Nygaard, Linda(Larry) Bohonos, Susan(Doug) Loraas-Pletsch, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Grace’s greatest joy was her family. Thanks to the wonderful staff at Mount Edwards Court who cared for Grace for the last two years. There will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army,

A Funeral Service will be held at MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 1:00 pm. Interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park.
