Ken passed away peacefully at Royal Jubilee Hospital on Sunday, August 26/07 with his family at his side. Born in Victoria on March 13,1926 he was a proud lifelong resident. Ken lived his whole life guided by a strong sense of duty, commitment to community service, devotion to his loving family, and great sense of humour. He touched many lives during his 33 years as an educator, and his 16 years as a civil marriage commissioner.

Ken enjoyed his involvement in many community activities including:

President of the Victoria Amateur Swim Club and coach of the YMCA swim club, President of Oak Bay Band Parents Association, Chair of Oak Bay Recreation Commission, Member of the Gizeh Thunderbirds Scooter Unit and his much- loved Victoria Silver Streaks Masters Swim Club.

Ken’s unique organizational skills saw him involved with the swimming events of the 1994 Commonwealth Games, school events and reunions, sporting events, and other activities too numerous to mention.

Ken was predeceased by his parents and brother, David. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan, son Bruce (Chris), daughters Megan and Glynis (David), and daughter-in-law Gillian (Yan). Best “Gramps” ever to Michael and Graeme Fullerton, Garreth (Morgan) and Andrew Hurn, and Kirby, Bryan, and David (Jr.) Ramsay. “Uncle Ken” to Lyle, Tamah, Lisa, Jodi, and Heather and their children. Ken will also be remembered fondly by sisters-in-law Mary Hurn and Diane Auchinvole, cousin Cliff Colpitts and many surviving cousins in Wales.



Please join the family for a celebration of Ken’s life to be held in the lounge at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre, 1975 Bee St., on Sunday, September 9th from 2-5PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Queen Alexandra Hospital Foundation, the SPCA, or a charity of your choice

Passed away in Saanichton August 23rd, 2007. She was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia June 8, 1955. Predeceased by her mother, Mary Mcleod and survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Brian Matthews; sons, Christopher, Richard; father, Charles Mcleod; brothers, John Mcleod, David Mcleod and many extended family. Joanne was a loving mother and wife, who always put her family first. She was a private person and a very active person making sure to stay fit.



Memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 5th at 1:00 pm at Sequoia Gardens Memorial, 4665 Falaise Drive with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Saanich Peninsula Palliative Care Unit, 2166 Mt. Newton X Road, Victoria, BC V8M 2B2.

May 24, 1927 – August 23, 2007



Madge “Mike” passed away peacefully at the Victoria General Hospital. She was born in Victoria, PEI and graduated from the PEI School of Nursing in Charlottetown, PEI..Mike was a loving mother and wife.

Mike married Jerry in 1951 and they spent their early years working and raising their children, and travelling until she retired while they were in Summerside, PEI. She was an avid curler, Hospice Volunteer and a good friend to many on PEI.

Mike will be greatly missed by her husband, Jerry; daughters, Kim and Debbie; son, Shane; grandchildren, Karen, Christine, James Victoria, Kaitlyn, Nicole and Alesia; great grandchildren, Caleb Hunter and Thomas; her sister, Diane; and her many friends and family on both Islands.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Passed away suddenly without pain on Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the age of 81 to be united with his loving wife Evelyn, and his brother Mac and Bob. He is survived by his brother Don and his sister Ruth (Turner). “Uncle Gordon” will be greatly missed by his neices, nephews, and their families along his many wonderful friends and neighbours. He was a dedicated employee of B.C. Forest Products, Victoria Sawmill for 39 years, where he met some of his life long friends. His amazing gift of art, his unique sense of humour, along with Ev and Gord’s warm hospitality give us so many fond memories. Thanks to Dr. Crofton, the wonderful staff and care givers of Luther Court (second floor, east, you are exceptional!) and Diane Dumont for making a difference.



A Memorial Service to celebrate Gordon’s life will be lead by Pastor Daum on Saturday, September 8th at 2:00pm at Glad Tidings Church, 1800 Quadra Street, with light refreshments to follow.
