It is with great loss that the Neary family announces the passing of Beatrice (Betty) Neary. Betty (nee Bradley) passed away peacefully on October 10, 2006 in Victoria, BC of natural causes. Betty was the beloved wife of the late Bernard F. Betty was the second youngest of five children born on August 5, 1917 to Stephen and Winnifred Bradley in Grimsby, ON, the family later settling in Port Credit, ON. Betty studied Nursing at Toronto East General Hospital after which she joined the Canadian Army Corps as a Lieutenant in 1939. Betty served overseas in England during World War II. Bern and Betty met in Camp Borden, ON while both were serving in the Army and were married on December 8, 1943 in Watford, England. After the war, Bern and Betty settled first in Ottawa and later in Port Credit and Toronto where they raised their family. The family moved to Bern’s home town of Victoria in 1969. Betty enjoyed teaching yoga and back fitness classes at the Y. Later, she spent several years providing care to Bern, and volunteering, including visiting palliative care patients.
