PAYNE, Gloria Joanna (nee Marangoni) – Gloria passed away peacefully in Victoria, BC on November 24, 2005 at the age of 81, with her husband and family members at her side. Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Murray; her children, Gary, Linda, Judi, Jerry, Roy, Reg, Mary, Karen, Greg and Kevin; her siblings, Genevieve, Lenora, Virginia, Danny and Martin. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.



The family would like to thank the staff of Mount Tolmie Hospital and Dr. Bullock.



Prayers will be offered at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Monday, November 28, 2005 at 7:00 p.m.



Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend Fr. Michael Favero at HOLY CROSS CHURCH, 4049 Gordon Head Rd., in Victoria, BC on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m.

White, Valerie Anne – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister and aunt, Valerie Anne on November 21st, 2005. Valerie was born in Victoria on September 20th, 1973 and leaves to mourn her loving parents Les and Doreen, sisters Heather Golden (Leo, Mark and Adam) and Brenda Bristow (Bill, Eric and Emily). She was predeceased by her Poppy, Eric Bayley and uncle, Mel Dye. She also leaves her grandmothers Nanny (Hazel Bayley) and Nana (Elsie Flindell), aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Val lived for her family and was happiest doing things to help them. She loved animals, nature and walking by the ocean.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. P. Kelly, Dr. A. Penn, all of the nursing angels of 5B South at VGH and to Rev John Macquarrie, Norah and Nigel for all their love and support during this difficult time.



A celebration of Val’s life will be held at St. Peter’s Church, 3939 St. Peter Rd. on Saturday, November 26th at 2:00pm, followed by a tea in the hall. Donations in Val’s memory may be made to St. Peter’s Church or a charity of one’s choice.

STRABLE, Roy Preston

Roy passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital on Nov 14, 2005 at the age of 82.

Born in Victoria on June 15, 1923. He was predeceased by his wife Eachoe in 1992, and by his second wife, Doris (Usher), in 2000. Lovingly remembered by his children; Doug (Yachiyo) Strable and Susan (Rick) Swindells; grandchildren, Mike and Greg Swindells; and Doris’ children, Brian (Rita) Usher, Maureen (George) Godwin, and Ron Usher.

Roy had a long, rewarding, and happy life. He served his country as a RCAF Warrant Officer during WWII, his family as a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather, and Victoria’s families as their photographer for generations of memories. He enjoyed his retirement with wonderful friends at Falcon Ridge. He was a good friend to all. He will be missed.

Service of remembrance will be held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow in the Graham & Torrey McCall Family Centre.
