Born in England, on January 15, 1922, peacefully passed away August 29, 2005. With her four closest family members by her bedside at VGH, her youngest daughter Margarita, son-in-law Matthew, youngest grandchildren Michael and Sarah Stooke. Gwen also had two senior aged children, 4 adult grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Mom was always strong willed, independent and self sufficient to the end. We would like to thank all the nurses at VGH acute care who attended to her in her last months. A special thank you to Shelly Harrop for being at the right place at the right time. Thank you to Dr. K.H. Chan and Babe for their years of extra-ordinary health care. Mom has requested no service, any donations can be made in her name to the BC Lung Association, 2675 Oak Street, Vancouver B C, V6H 2K2.

JOHN, William Allan Passed away peacefully with the support of his family on August 26, 2005 at the age of 82. Born Feb. 28, 1923 in South Wales, Dr. John served in the Second World War as a fighter pilot with the Fleet Air Arm. Subsequently he qualified as a physician at Sheffield Medical School, becoming a radiologist during the pioneering days of the specialty. He emigrated to Calgary at age 45, maintained his practice for 22 years, largely at Holy Cross Hospital then retired to Victoria in 1990 where he enjoyed golfing at Uplands Golf Club. He was a talented cricketer in his youth and remained a great rugby enthusiast. A beloved husband and devoted father, Dr. John is survived by his wife Eirlys, daughters Sarah and Katie (husband Dan), sons Nicholas and Richard (wife Susan), also by his grandchildren Natasha, Jacob, Stephanie, Julia, Myfanwy, Daniel, Alysia & Savanna all of whom loved him dearly. In Britain, by brother Howard and his wife Dorothy, brother-in-law Leighton, his wife Grace, sister-in-law Sandra, and their families. A funeral service will be held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL located at Vancouver and Johnson Sts. on Tuesday the 30th day of August, 2005 at 1:30 p.m.. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Victoria Hospice Society.
