Bjornholt – Gunnar Bjornholt passed away peacefully at his home in Victoria,
BC on the 28th of May 2004. He was born in Silkeborg, Denmark on the 24th
of April 1920 and immigrated to Canada in 1952. Gunnar is survived by his
loving wife and best friend of 56 years Nancy, daughter Karin (Maurice) of
Nanton Alberta, son Ivan (Debra) of Sooke BC and daughter Jo-Anne (Gerald)
of Shawnigan Lake BC. His grandchildren Leonard (Suzanne), Lee (Melanie),
Lonni, Skylar, Bobbi (Nik) and Desirae (Chris). His great grandchildren
Avery and Dominic and his step grandchildren Gina, Jessica and Haydn.
Dad will be missed for his compassion, wisdom, guidance and strength. His
life was an inspiration and everyone who was lucky enough to have known him
feel blessed. He made the world a better place for us all.
There will be a celebration of Gunnar’s life at the family home on Wednesday
the 2nd of June 2004 from 3pm. All friends are welcome to join the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Heart

ROPER L. Alan Born in 1922 in Carlisle Castle, England, while his father W.A. Roper was stationed with the Border Regiment as R.S.M. After the war, in 1926, the family immigrated to Canada. Alan was a graduate of Vic High School, Victoria Normal School (Craigdarroch Castle) and UVic. He joined the Artillery (RCA) underage early in the second World War and later rose to the rank of Captain in the Royal Canadian Artillery. He taught for many years at numerous schools in the Victoria area. He married Anne E. Thomson in 1948 and had three children, John, Paul and Elizabeth. Alan’s hobby was collecting hobbies: sailing, photography, painting miniature lead military figures, genealogy, cycling, and E-Bay. Survived by his lovingwife of 56 years,Anne, daughter Elizabeth, son John (Margaret), grandchildren: Shayne (Tammy), Lavonne (Jason), Michael, Jesse, Joel and Jamie-Paul, and two great grandsons: Shaunison and Jaemus. Private family interment at Royal Oak Burial Park. Funeral service to be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, 3909 St. George’s Lane, in Cadboro Bay, 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 31, 2004, Archdeacon Logan McMenamie officiating.
